It’s been quite a number of years now that fig has really got me to that next level of emotions. Dolce Calderai from Nikky in Italy discovered it many years ago is outright phenomenal. He told me he thought it was about his best and I can see why. It’s a honey type, very rich and sweet with some melon flavor. No acid whatsoever and no spoiling. They are in direct sun most of the day. It is being preserved by a handful of collectors. Its uniqueness is the purple to blue skin with an amber interior. It is extremely sweet and rain resistant. The variety is vigorous growing and very cold hardy. It is common and many in Indonesia have confirmed that too. My tree is two years old and has fruited this year the first time. Thank you, Nikky it will stay in my collection.
Where can I find cuttings of Dolce Calderai? This sounds like a winner in the honey fig category.
